GDPR: exporting and erasing a contact's data

Respond to data subject access and deletion requests for a specific contact.

Every contact's detail page has a Privacy section for handling data access and deletion requests.

Exporting a contact's data

  1. Open the contact.
  2. In the Privacy section, click Export data.
  3. A JSON file downloads with everything Threadliner has on file for that contact.

Erasing a contact's personal data

  1. Open the contact.
  2. In the Privacy section, click Erase personal data.
  3. Confirm by clicking Yes, erase.

This is described in the product itself as:

Export everything on file for this contact, or permanently erase their personal data (email, name, phone, company) to comply with a deletion request. Erasure keeps business records like deals and activity history, with the personal details removed.

Erasure is permanent and can't be undone from the UI. It removes identifying fields (email, name, phone, company) but deliberately keeps non-identifying business records — deals, activity history — intact, so your pipeline reporting doesn't lose history just because one contact asked to be forgotten.

Deleting a contact entirely

The Danger zone further down the contact page has a separate Delete contact action — this removes the contact record itself, not just its personal fields. Use Erase personal data for GDPR requests where you need to keep the business record; use Delete contact only when you want the record gone entirely.
