The unified contact record

Every contact is one record shared across Forms, Newsletter, CRM, and Automation.

A contact in Threadliner is one record, no matter which module created it — a form submission, a newsletter signup, and a manually-created CRM contact all produce (or update) the same kind of row, matched by email address.

What's on a contact

Open Contacts and click into any contact to see:

  • Details — first name, last name, email, phone, company, plus a Source label (e.g. "manual", or the form/list that created it) and an email subscription status badge.
  • The thread — a small diagram showing which of Forms, Newsletter, and CRM have touched this contact, and which one most recently did.
  • Tags — see Tags.
  • Custom Fields — see Custom Fields.
  • Tasks — simple to-dos with an optional due date, not tied to a specific deal.
  • Add a note — a free-text note, recorded on the activity feed.
  • Activity — a chronological feed of everything that's happened: form submissions, emails sent/opened/clicked, subscriptions, deal creation and stage changes, tags added/removed, tasks, notes, and automation runs.
  • Privacy and Danger zone — see GDPR.

Creating a contact manually

Go to Contacts, click New contact, enter at least an email address, and click Create. This is the only required field — first name, last name, phone, and company can all be filled in afterward from the contact's own page.

How contacts get matched

Every contact is unique per email address within your workspace. If a form submission or newsletter signup comes in for an email that already exists, Threadliner updates the existing contact rather than creating a duplicate — that's what keeps a contact's history continuous across modules instead of splitting into separate records per source.
